How can I transfer data from mtn to mtn
In order to transfer or send mb from your mtn to another mtn make sure you have an active data plan with at least 50mb remaining in it. ‘Active data plan’ here means a data plan you subscribed to that has not expired, it can be a daily, weekly or monthly data plan.
Before we continue, note that; you can only transfer airtime twice in a day. Once you’ve transferred upto 2 times you can’t transfer again until the next day and you’re not allowed to transfer bonus megabyte (megabyte given as a bonus for subscribing for a data plan)
If you have an active data plan with not less than 50mb like I said earlier then let’s go ahead. There are 3 ways of doing this and they all work perfectly well.
The first way is to dial; *131#. Once you dial that you’ll have options displayed to you;
- Select 7 – Gift Data
- Select 1 – Transfer from Data Balance
You’ll be told to “Enter Recipient’s number” (that’s the person you want to transfer your megabyte to). Enter the mtn recipient’s phone number correctly and press send/ok
Another option will be displayed where you’ll select the amount of megabyte (mb) you want to transfer. You can either select 10mb, 50mb or 100mb.
Once you select the amount of megabyte you want to transfer, press send/ok. An option will display prompting you to confirm or cancel the transfer, click on proceed. You’ll receive a message confirming your successful transfer of data to the recipient’s phone number.
Note: You can not transfer more than 100mb in a day and you can’t transfer more than twice in a day.
The second way you can transfer mb from mtn to mtn is by using this ussd format; *131*Phone number* Data amount#
Example: if the mtn phone number you want to transfer data to is 08030012345 and the data amount you want to send is 100mb, simply dial; *131*08030012345*100# very easy right?
You can also do this via text message using this format; Transfer[space]Recipient’s Phone Number[space]Data Amount and send to this number 131.
Example: If the Recipient’s Phone Number (that’s the person you want to transfer your megabyte to) is 08030012345 and Data Amount to be transferred is 100mb.
Then your message should go like this; Transfer 08030012345 100 and send to 131.
Transferring mb from mtn to mtn is totally free of charge, all you need is an active data plan with not less than 50mb in it.
What if you don’t have enough megabyte (mb) to transfer?, do you know that you can buy megabyte for your friend from your own mtn line, I bet you don’t know this.
With Mtn Gift Data that you can subscribe a data plan for you relative or friend using your mtn line. This is just like when you’re subscribing for a data plan but this time the data plan goes to the person you’re subscribing for and the money willl be deducted from your own airtime account. Hope you got me?
Now this is very easy and straightforward, you can do this when you don’t have megabyte to transfer. Let’s get to it.
How to buy data for someone on mtn

How to request mtn data from someone
Do you know you can request for data from your friend. If you’re in urgent need of data you can send a megabyte request to your friend and they’ll transfer or buy megabyte for you using their own mtn line.
This very simple just dial *131#
- Select 7 – Gift Data
- Select 3 – Request from a Friend
You’ll be asked to put the phone number of the person you want to receive megabyte from, input the number and press send/ok.
